Terry County Tractor, Inc. is a Texas Corporation formed in 1972 by Frank and Allene Melcher. The company was originally started in 1956 when John Wheeler and Frank Melcher formed a partnership in an Oliver Dealership called Melcher Wheeler. They had dealerships in both Lubbock and Brownfield. Frank drove back and forth between Lubbock and Brownfield until 1961, the year they renamed the Brownfield store Terry County Tractor, Inc.. In 1972 Frank and Allene bought John's share and formed the corporation. In 1977, Doug Melcher came to work in the dealership full time after attending college and working part time from the time he was old enough to go to "the shop with Dad". The Kubota line was added in 1982, and the Spra Coupe line was added in 1997. Frank passed from this life in 2012 upon which Doug became president, and along with his wife Vicki, built a new facility in 2015 in order to carry on the tradition of Terry County Tractor, Inc. In 2016 Shane Melcher, Doug and Vicki's son, came back to the family to help carry on the family tradition after graduating from college and working in the ag chemical business for 10 years.
Our goal, together with our employees, is to provide our customers with fair and honest pricing and support. We want our customers to feel the "no pressure sales" environment that our sales force provides so that they can come and shop without having to worry about those never ending calls from salesman after they leave. We appreciate their business and look forward to the friendships developed afterward!
